Head of sales
- Leadership
- €70,000 base
- Remote
- Full time
Build the sales team as a seller first: close yourself, set the way we sell, and hire the people who'll do it next.

About the role.
Echo is a marketing OS for small marketing teams at tech companies, built by a small team that would rather ship than hold meetings. Sales is the part we're building now, and we want someone to build it who still sells.
As head of sales you close deals yourself and carry your own number for the first year. Along the way you decide how we sell: segments, process, pricing conversations, tools. You hire the account executives and sales development representatives, set up how they're paid (the same way you are) and report to the founder in plain words, every month.
What you'll do.
- Close deals yourself and carry your own number, especially in the first year
- Decide how we sell: the segments, the process, the pricing conversations, the tools
- Hire and onboard the account executives and sales development representatives, and set up how they're paid
- Report plainly to the founder: what's working, what isn't, what to change
- Represent Echo with larger customers and partners
What we look for.
- Seven or more years selling business software, two or more of them leading sellers
- You still sell, and you want to: the team comes after your own first deals
- You've built a team from nothing or close to it, and you've hired well and let go when needed
- You've designed compensation that worked for the seller and the company, and you can explain it in a minute
- You run your own show and don't need the trappings: no office, no offsites, no big team around you to feel at work
Leadership: you've led sellers and still carry a number. Tell us what you built, what you'd do here in the first ninety days, and why without a big team around you.
What you get. The same rule as everyone in sales, with this role's numbers.
€70,000 a year
The base salary, paid monthly.
30% of recurring revenue
On your own deals, the same 30% as everyone. How you share in the results of the team you build is something we agree before the first hire.
Two to three times the base
What the total typically comes to. Some make more.
Fully remote
Remote, within about three hours of Central European Time. No office, no offsites, no mandatory anything.
How the pay works in full, and the questions people ask about it: the careers page.
The first months. How it tends to go.
- 01Weeks 1 and 2: learn the product and the market, meet every customer we have, read every lost deal
- 02Month 1: your own first deals in motion, and a written first version of how we sell
- 03Month 3: your first customers signed, the plan for the first hires agreed, the first hire in progress
How we work here. In short.
Remote by design
There's no office to come to, and there won't be one. You work from wherever you do your best work, in the hours that suit the customers you're talking to. We hire people who like it that way.
You run your own show
Nobody hands you a calendar. You decide how to find customers, how to run your week and which tools to use, as long as it adds up to new customers. Think of it as running your own business inside ours, with the product, the brand and the leads already there.
Paid for outcomes
We'd rather pay you a lot for results than a little for attendance. The base salary is deliberately modest; the share of revenue isn't, and it has no cap. Someone who does well here earns two to three times their base.
Light on rituals
No offsites, no mandatory socials, no all-hands for the sake of it. A short written update, a call when a call helps, and colleagues who respect your work. If you make friends here, great; it's just not part of the job.
The interview is a real sales call.
We don't do rounds of interviews for sales roles. We'd rather hear you sell. So the process is short, and it's the job itself:
- 01Apply below. A person reads it and gets back to you within a week.
- 02Learn Echo. The interactive demo on our home page runs on made-up data and needs no account; the free AI score shows what we do in a minute.
- 03Find a company that fits and book a demo call with them. How you find them and what you say is up to you.
- 04Once it's scheduled, write to hello@echo-aeo.com with the date and time and invite us to the call. One of us joins and only listens.
- 05After the call, we give you honest feedback and a decision, usually the same day.
If that sounds like a day you'd enjoy, apply. If it sounds like too much to ask before an offer, that's a fair answer too, and better found out now.
Apply. A few lines are enough. Honest ones are better.
No CV upload, no cover letter. Your LinkedIn profile tells us where you've been; the box below tells us whether this is the right place for you.
What we'd like to read
- How you match this level. Leadership: you've led sellers and still carry a number. Tell us what you built, what you'd do here in the first ninety days, and why without a big team around you.
- How you'd work when nobody sets your week: how you'd find customers, organise yourself and decide what to do next, with new customers as the outcome.
- Anything you'd want to know from us.
