Compare/Ahrefs Brand Radar

Echo vs Ahrefs Brand Radar. A huge index of modelled prompts, or your own prompts and what to do about them.

Brand Radar is Ahrefs' answer to AI search: hundreds of millions of prompts modelled from its keyword database, run through six AI platforms, so you can see which brands they name for whole topics. Echo asks the specific questions your customers ask, every day, and turns the answers into work. Different questions, different tools.

In short.

Brand Radar's index is the biggest in the category: over 400 million prompts a month across Google AI Overviews, AI Mode, ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity and Copilot, with YouTube and Reddit mentions beside it. It finds topics and prompts you didn't know to track, and it sits inside Ahrefs, the SEO tool many teams already pay for.

Pick Ahrefs Brand Radar if

  • You already pay for Ahrefs and want AI visibility across whole topics without choosing prompts
  • You need the backlink and keyword data Ahrefs is known for
  • An SEO team that researches markets rather than runs one brand's week

Pick Echo if

  • You want your own prompts asked every day, with position, sentiment and the exact pages cited
  • You want the gaps to become actions with owners and a before and after
  • A small team that needs the content, the landing pages and the reporting too, without a second SEO subscription

Where Echo goes further

A map of the territory, or a watch on your own door

Brand Radar answers "which brands do AI assistants name for project management software, across millions of prompts?" Echo answers "did ChatGPT name us this morning when asked the twelve questions our buyers actually ask, and what did it cite?" The first is research. The second is what a small team acts on every week.

  • Each prompt asked every day on five assistants, with the full answers kept
  • Position, sentiment and the cited pages per answer
  • Drop alerts when a prompt you used to win goes quiet

Echo's SEO is the part a small team uses

Ahrefs is the deeper SEO tool, and if you need backlinks, Echo doesn't replace it. Echo keeps the SEO a marketing team of three actually acts on: keyword gaps against competitors, a keyword and domain explorer, rankings for the keywords that matter, and a monthly audit whose findings become actions.

  • Keyword gaps, explorer and rankings through DataForSEO
  • A site audit that files its findings as actions
  • Your sitemap as a tree, with AI citations and visits per page

What happens after the chart

Brand Radar shows a gap and leaves the next step to you. Echo writes the brief, drafts the page in your voice, builds the landing page, posts the action to Slack or Linear, and two weeks after you ship it, shows whether the assistants noticed.

  • Actions with proof, owner and due date
  • Briefs and drafts from the gap itself
  • Before and since on every done action

Questions, answered.

Isn't a bigger index better?

For research, yes: Brand Radar finds topics you didn't know to track. For running a brand's week, a few dozen prompts your buyers really ask, checked daily, tell you more than millions of modelled ones checked monthly. Many teams do both: Ahrefs for the map, a tracker for the door.

Does Echo replace Ahrefs?

No. Echo covers the SEO a small marketing team acts on (keyword gaps, an explorer, rankings, a monthly audit) but has no backlink index. If backlinks are part of your work, keep Ahrefs.

What does Brand Radar really cost?

As published on 6 October 2026: an Ahrefs plan from $129 a month, then $199 a month per AI platform or $699 for all six, and custom prompts from $50 a month (2,500 checks) unless your Ahrefs plan includes an allowance. All six platforms with custom prompts comes to about $828 a month or more.

Can Echo import prompts from Brand Radar?

Paste them in Prompts → Add, one per line. Echo keeps 50 per market and asks the ones you mark daily every morning.

Does Echo see YouTube and Reddit?

Reddit, yes: Mentions reads the Reddit threads AI answers cite and the ones Google finds for your watched sites, without using Reddit's API. YouTube: Echo watches your competitors' channels for new videos, not mentions of your brand in videos.
