Compare/Semrush

Echo vs Semrush. AI visibility bolted onto an SEO suite, or built into a marketing OS.

Semrush is the SEO suite most marketers have used, and its AI Visibility Toolkit adds a global prompt database and custom prompt tracking to it, by domain. Echo is built the other way round: AI visibility first, with the SEO, the actions, the content and the reporting a small team needs around it. Here's what each gives you.

In short.

Semrush's keyword, competitor and advertising research is deep and battle-tested, its global AI prompt database gives a quick directional read on any brand, and the AI Visibility Toolkit comes bundled in Semrush One. Agencies with many client domains get one familiar suite for all of it.

Pick Semrush if

  • You live in Semrush already and want AI visibility as one more report in it
  • An agency that tracks many client domains and bills by the report
  • You need Semrush's keyword, PPC and competitor research depth

Pick Echo if

  • You want the AI answers themselves, with position, sentiment and cited pages per prompt, on five assistants every day
  • You want a to-do list with proof instead of another dashboard to read
  • A small team that needs drafts, landing pages, lead forms and a monthly report from the same place

Where Echo goes further

One domain and one user, or one team and one loop

Semrush's toolkit is priced per domain and per user, which suits an agency with many clients. Echo is priced per workspace: a brand with its markets, its prompts, its competitors, its team and its guests, and a bigger plan for three or ten brands.

  • 2 to 15 members, plus guests for brand assets
  • 1 to 6 countries and languages per brand
  • Everything in the plan for every brand

The answers themselves, not a score

A visibility score is a start. Echo keeps every answer: what the assistant said, in which position it named you, with what sentiment, and which pages it leaned on. That's what tells you whether to write a page, fix a fact or get mentioned somewhere.

  • Five assistants, including Claude
  • Every answer readable, every cited page listed
  • FactCheck: the claims AI gets wrong about you, as actions

What a small team needs from SEO, then the rest

Echo's SEO is narrower than Semrush's and that's deliberate: keyword gaps, an explorer, rankings and a monthly audit, each feeding the actions. Around it sit the parts Semrush doesn't have: competitor watch, mentions, briefs and drafts, landing pages, creative, lead forms, email, playbooks and the monthly report.

  • Keyword gaps and rankings through DataForSEO
  • Site audit findings become actions and close by themselves when fixed
  • Google Analytics, Search Console, HubSpot and ad spend in one report

Questions, answered.

Can I keep Semrush and add Echo?

Yes, and many teams will: Semrush for keyword and backlink research, Echo for the week's actions, the AI answers and the building. Echo's SEO covers the day-to-day; it doesn't try to replace Semrush's research depth.

Is Echo's $799 comparable with Semrush's $99?

Not directly. Semrush's $99 is the AI toolkit for one domain and one user, billed yearly. Echo's $799 covers tracking on five assistants, the actions, competitor watch, mentions, SEO, drafts, landing pages, creative, brand assets, lead forms, email campaigns and reporting for one brand and 2 members. The nearest Semrush comparison is Semrush One plus the content and reporting tools you'd add.

Which has more AI engines?

Echo asks five assistants: ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, Claude and Google AI Overviews. Semrush's toolkit covers ChatGPT, Google's AI Overviews and AI Mode, Gemini and Perplexity. Semrush has Google AI Mode; Echo has Claude.

Does Echo have a global prompt database?

No. Echo suggests prompts from your website and your answers, and its keyword explorer shows search demand for any keyword or domain, but it doesn't model millions of prompts the way Semrush and Ahrefs do. Your own prompts, asked daily, are the product.

Does Echo do PPC research?

Not in Semrush's sense. Echo reads your competitors' ads from Meta's and Google's own ad libraries (Competitor ads) and runs your Meta campaigns inside spend limits (Paid ads), but it has no keyword bid or ad spend estimates.
