The Echo tag

The Echo tag is a small script that counts visits, where they came from and conversions. It lets Echo show visits from AI assistants and the before and after of your actions, even without Google Analytics. Every plan has it.

Install it

  1. Go to Website → Health → Tracking → Echo tag and click Get your snippet.
  2. Copy the line and paste it into your site's head (where depends on your site, see below).
  3. Publish your site and open it once. Echo's status changes from "Waiting for the first visit" to "Receiving".

The line looks like this:

<script defer src="https://echo-aeo.com/tag.js" data-site="et_…"></script>

Where to paste it

SiteWhere
FramerClick Install on Framer if Framer is connected. Otherwise Site settings → General → Custom code → End of head tag.
WebflowSite settings → Custom code → Head code. Custom code needs a paid site plan.
WordPressA header-code plugin such as WPCode.
Google Tag ManagerA custom HTML tag on all pages.
Squarespace, Wix or any other siteThe site's custom code for the head.

What it counts

  • page views, including page changes in single-page apps
  • visits, credited to where the visitor came from and their landing page
  • forms, marked clicks and your own events

Visits from ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, Claude, Copilot, Grok and other assistants are recognised by their links and UTM tags.

Privacy

The tag sets no cookies and stores no IP addresses. A visitor is recognised for one day only, through a value that changes daily. Echo processes this data on your behalf; see the privacy policy.

With Google Analytics too

You can use both. Echo never adds them up: each week, Results takes the Echo tag when it covered the whole week, else Google Analytics.
