How Echo collects AI answers

The assistants

Which assistants you get depends on your plan; see Pricing. You can set each assistant to Daily, Weekly or Off under Brand → Markets → Assistants.

API answers and app answers

The apps people use (chatgpt.com, the Claude app and so on) add things the APIs don't, such as memory, personal settings and sometimes a different model. Echo's answers are similar in spirit but not identical to what one person sees in the app. Screens label each engine with how it was asked, for example "ChatGPT (API + web search)". Google AI Overviews and AI Mode are the exception: Echo reads what a signed-out searcher sees.

Echo doesn't scrape the consumer apps. It's fragile and against their terms.

What Echo stores for each answer

• the answer's text
• which tracked brands it names, and in what order
• the tone towards each of them: positive, neutral or negative
• the pages it cites
• the web searches the assistant ran while answering
• the pages it looked at but didn't cite, where the assistant's API reports them

How often

Your main market runs every day by default; extra markets every Monday. Change it under Brand → Markets. Run now on the Overview or Prompts page starts a run at once (once an hour per market).

Google shows an AI Overview for some searches only. A search without one isn't counted as a missed answer: it's left out of visibility and only counts in "AI Overview shown".

Why answers change

AI answers vary from one ask to the next, even for the same question. Look at trends over a week or more rather than a single day, and read the answers themselves: every number in Echo opens the answers behind it.
